3 Ways to Boost Employee Satisfaction
There are many important reasons–both tangible and intangible–to foster employee satisfaction. Companies with better employee satisfaction tend to boast lower turnover rates and better customer service; and (as one would expect) they have better company morale. Everyone prefers working in a positive environment! Studies have repeatedly shown that employee satisfaction is contingent on many factors beyond base salary. Sure, everyone feels better about their job when they are being compensated well, but it is not enough just to throw out high salaries and expect everyone to be happy. There are many other equally effective (and more cost effective) methods of making sure everyone is comfortable and happy in their work. Here are 3 simple tips that can help boost employee satisfaction.
1. Avoid micro-management. As a leader, you most likely have a well developed vision for your company. However, it’s important to allow the individuals you are leading the freedom to shine. Allowing employees as much freedom as possible in order to encourage a sense of responsibility and autonomy.
2. Ease commuting stress. Commuting is a huge source of stress for a large portion of the workforce. In today’s high-tech world, however, there are many ways to get around this problem! Staggering the workday, or even allowing employees to complete certain portions of their work remotely, can work wonders for employee satisfaction.
3. Make sure human resources is running smoothly. If human resource operations aren’t being completed in a smooth and efficient manner, it can create many problems for employees. A well run HR department should be facilitating open communication between employees and management while also ensuring that crucial functions such as payroll are being completed in a timely manner.
